* Address: No.127 Phan Chu Trinh street, Cam Pho ward
* Information:
Thong Dang Prison is located in the total area of 5.000 m2 built by the French colonialists in 1947. It was intended to hold Vietnamese prisoners, particularly political prisoners agitating for independence who were often subject to torture in subhuman conditions.
Thong Dang Prison had been used in dates ranging from 1947 to 1954. This place witnessed the indomitable will, solidarity and strong belief of soldiers who believed in the victory of the revolution.
In June, 1960, because the prison's capacity was not enough to confine prisoners, the enemy built another prison in Xóm Mới and brought prisoners there for detention. Since then this prison is no longer in use.
Thong Dang Prison is a precious historical relic in Hội An, a place for younger generations learning more about history and glorious tradition of the nation.
