The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP) jointly with the Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC) held the 2018 Asia-Pacific ICH NGO Conference: ICH NGOs toward Sustainable Development of Communities, in Huế City, Vietnam, from 6 to 8 November 2018.
It is the second conference following the previous one held in Jeonju, Korea, in November 2016. This year, representatives of thirty-five organizations in the ICH-safeguarding field from sixteen countries attended the conference. Among the participants are also members of the ICH NGO Forum, a UNESCO-Accredited ICH NGO. They discussed the subject of “ICH NGOs towards Sustainable Development of Communities”. They also shared experiences on NGO activities contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore a future direction for network building.
Ms. Lê Thị Tuấn , the Chief of Museology belonging to Hội An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation shared presentation about “Heritage Education in schools of Hội An”. She introduced the method of interactions between teachers, their students and heritage staffs through the artifacts displaying at museums and relics. It helps engaging students in learning heritage, raising awareness and understanding of presevation and promotion the history and culture values of their ancestors. The presentation received the attention and many valuable comments and suggestions of participants from other countries..
The 2018 Asia-Pacific ICH NGO Conference has successfully completed on 8/11/2018 with adopted conference outcome document containing discussion notes and proposals.
